We are having a tough time finding a dog food that our little girl will eat. First of all, I am ashamed to say that her teeth are not in great condition and she appears to be having trouble chewing and digesting dry kibble. We've been feeding Prarie dry which she won't touch any more no matter what we do - we've wet it with chicken stock; we've mixed it with hamburger or chicken; we've resorted to eliminating the kibble and tried chicken or hamburger with rice - she picks the meat out and leaves the starch. The only thing we've found that she seems to eat is Ol Roy soft and chewy and Kibbles and Bits. I know these dog foods are rated very low nutritionally but we're at a loss for an alternative. I have tried the frozen dog foods that are all meat - she turns her nose up at that, too. Any suggestions for a good quality food for a very picky eater?

My Comment:

Hi

I would like to know more about how she has been eating when she was younger and also to know how her teeth's are looking.

Sometimes I see very bad teeth's in old dogs and this can be the cause. Lot of inflammation and perhaps some of them needs to be extracted as well.

I am not very happy to do a lot of things to old dogs. But, doing the teeth's if needed, can do a lot of positive for her.

If your vet don't think the teeth's are that bad and doesn't need treatment I would just give her what she wants to eat.

You can also try to add a little caned cat food as dogs love this. Just ad a little to give the dog food some taste an smell of it.

I am using this in dogs having trouble to eat enough for different reasons. To see if their appetite can get better.

But, the teeth's are important and if needs to be done I really would like you to consider to have this done.

All the best
