Fresh Meat

All natural dog food should be nutritious. Meats should be as fresh as possible. Storage for at long time will decrease the nutrient value of it. Even freezing meat will decrease some of its nutritious value. This can be difficult to avoid, but use as fresh frozen meat as possible.

The quality of meat is depending on its source. How the animals lived before slaughter is important. The best quality meat you can use in all natural dog food is free-range meats. No stress and no strange artificial food to the animals, it will improve quality of the meat. This is important in best quality dog food

I strongly recommend that you give the meat some light boiling before you give it to your dog. The digestion of it will increase and risks from bacterial contamination will get reduced

Use organic farmed vegetables. Organic farming uses no chemicals and improve the quality of the soil. All the nutrient's in the plant comes from where it grows. Having a soil with a microbiological perfect balance without chemicals will increase its nutritious value.

As with meat, I recommend to boil it slightly. Not because of contamination risks, but only because of the digestion. Dogs can't really break down the cell wall in plants. Slight heating improve this greatly.

I do not recommend microwave heating. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) microwave is regarded as depleting the food totally of Chi.

Good Quality Water

What is best? You buy a water filter or your dog being a filter? This goes for you as well.

Water is important in dog food nutrition and in your dogs health.

Clean water with no chemicals from pipes or contamination is hard to find. You can buy bottled water but this not very environmental friendly. Instead, get a good quality water filter mounted in your kitchen. It should consist of both a carbon filter and UV-lamp.

You can by best quality dog food but, if you use bad water in the same time... use good clean water and get the full benefit from the good nutrition.

Locally Produced Ingredients

Less transport time will make both meat and vegetables more nutritious. Less transport will lessen the environmental carbon dioxide load.

It should not take that much of your time to prepare your friends all natural dog food. Prepare it every day. If some is not eaten, keep it in the fridge to the next day. Not longer. Natural and best quality dog food is fresh.

Before you give it to your dog give it a slight heating on the stove. Not the microwave. Do not let it stand in the kitchen for hours. The bacterias love this and will increase the bacterial content in the food far too much.

This can compromise your dog's health.
