Dog food/probiotic/glucosamine/Megaesophagus

Hello Dr Shconbeck , your site is amazing ! Thank-you !
We have a beautiful 15mth old puppy (shiloh shepherd). He was born with megaseophagus and a bytlateral lymb disorder(1 crooked leg), his breeder and I had been emailng prior to his condition and had asked us if we would take him on once finding this sad info. Greatest thing we've ever done !
I feed him Innova (natura)lg breed puppy and I was thinking of trying to get a bit lower cost dog food / when I came across the acanna . Innova is great so I probably won't stinge on this . He is only 80lbs and just wanted to fatten him up a bit . I give him coconut milk and he loves very sm pcs of carrot.
As for probiotic I give him a wallmart brand(dr goodpet) for dogs .It seems ok, alot less gas LOL.I was thinking of a human form but can never get a straight answer(equate brand).
We have not started him on glucosamine yet... any good age to start ? I know a police officer that gives his 2 dogs (german shepherds of course )horse glucosamine. I read about a to high of copper/iron in it ???
Any input would be great .
Thanks again

My Comment:

I am not aware that there should be any difference between horse glucosamine and dog glucosamine.

Here in Sweden the human glucosamine products are only glucosamine in a pure form. In animals it is very common to add vitamin c, MSM and so on.

If you are using human glucosamine in animals this might get a different result compared to the result using one for dogs, containing all the "extra supplements"

In my opinion you should be able to use the horse on for dogs, but I would use one where the producer might state it is safe to do. Otherwise you carefully have to compare the content between the two and make sure they are the same.

You can start using glucosamine in any age. If you wanna do the best for his joints you might start now. No problems with that.

And, thank you comment on my site - I hope it can help many dog owners!

All the best
