Dog Owner - How to Repel Ticks and Fleas

by Suz
(Philippines)

i have a 3 year old local mongrel here in the philippines. i love your website. i wish we have vets like you here.

i use a mixture of weak cooking vinegar and water to give my dog towel baths in between her bath days (mondays)to repel ticks and fleas.

her coat is shiny and she smells sweet even if she bathes only once a week. do you think we can share this info in this site?

My Comment:

Hi Suz

Yes, absolutely.

When it comes to parasites of different kinds I always advice my clients to give the "non-chemical" ideas a try to see if they work.

This can be very different from dog to dog. But, you newer know.

At least not before you try it!

If it doesn't work you therefore know you may have to use more traditional "chemicals".

I was wondering if you could share with us the recipe....

How many parts water to how many parts vinegar do you use?

Thank you for your mail and tip

vinegar-water solution for ticks and fleas
by: Suz

1 cup weak cooking vinegar
1 cup tap water
1 small dry wash cloth.

mix water and vinegar and dip the dry washcloth in the solution. give the dog a towel bath with this.

at first, the dog may not like it but can get used to the routine if done regularly. (my "itchy" is used to it now and looks forward to it).

this keeps the doggy smell at bay, his/her coat soft and repels the pests.
