Frenchie & Pug Owner

HellO Dr.,

I am doing a lot of research online about dog food. My vet is very pro Medi-Cal and Science Diet, but I am dead set against it. I have a new French Bulldog who is on raw food, but I want to switch her to Orijen kibble for puppies. My pug is on Innova and a teaspoon of grain-free canned Wellness chicken, and does fine on it, and I just think the Orijen kibble would work ok for my Frenchie. The question is, how do I change her over, as the digestion rates are so different from raw food to kibble? I was thinking just switching to the kibble with a teaspoon of pumpkin, as that helps, but if you could offer any advice, I would appreciate it!

Thanks in advance.....

My Comment:

Hi Mistel

You probably know already to change the food slowly all ready. This would be my advice to you.

There might not be any problem at all.

Sometimes I see dogs, going from a grain based food to Orijen, having problems.

I think this could have to do with high content of meat and protein. But, of cause I don't know for sure.

You are already giving high protein food so I think you just carry on changing, but slowly to be on the safe side.

Remember that theory is one thing and practical life another. So, you wont now for sure if you will have problems, before you actually do the food change.

There might not be any problems at all.

If you feel like it, please let me know about your experience changing to Orijen.

All the best
