IBD Questions

Hi,
I have a dog with recurring IBD. It happens every 2 months and the result is ugly. He is underweight, always hungry, yet he can't really adsorb the nutrients, and the stool is huge and not solid. I have tried many many dog foods and always try to give him premium brands like orijen and acana, supplements, probiotics, fish oil, L-Glutamine, other supplements with no positive result. I don't know what else to do and reading your post about entero-chronic gives me hope. Do you know where I can buy it in the USA? Do you think low fat dog food is better for my dog?
Thank you so much. I look forward to your reply.
My Comment:
Hi Erine
Yes, Entero-chronic is absolutely worth a try.
You have to be aware of vit-B12 as well. Unfortunately it doesn't help to give it as tablets so you have to get i checked a your vet and treated if deficit at them as well.
If it is possible to get in USA - try to contact the company. Here is the link: http://www.bioiberica.com/en/Contact.html
Normally fat is no problem in IBD.
It is more the protein and often it is recommended to use "novel protein". so, it is more important to give protein that he hasn't had before and see if this can help him.
Maybe Entero-chronic can do him better, otherwise you might to have him medicated to get the intestines back to normal.
I find it important to make the intestines better as he clearly has a problem absorbing the nutrients from the food.
Low fat food should not be needed as long the pancreas isn't involved.
All the best
