Liver tumor canned food recommendations

by Paul
(Springfield, PA USA)

Hi Doctor,

I have a 13+ yr old golden retriever named Gromit.

He has been diagnosed with a non-diffuse, benign liver tumor. Can you recommend a commercial canned food that you have found delivers a balance of protein and carbs?

Thank you in advance,

Paul

My Comment:

This is a problem.
When it comes to diseases I am tend to recommend some of the ordinary vet. foods like Royal Canin.
But, they are quite ordinary in regarding high in carbs.
On the other side, normally you tend to be quite happy in low protein content as proteins to some extend is handled by the liver.
Too much protein in a diseased liver is not traditionally recommended.
This in mind I would not be that unhappy choosing more traditional "liver food".
Hope this answer can be of some help and comfort.

All the best to you both
