Side Effects of Milk for Dogs

My dog always drink milk every morning,I would like to know if there is a bad side effects for my Dogs? I heard that milk is one of the cause that dogs are strong or brave (Matapang in tagalog). Is it true?

My Comment:

Hi Bong

No this is not true. Not to my believe at least.

Dogs normally have a difficult time ingesting milk because of the lacking of enzymes taking care of Lactose (milk sugar).

If they lack the ability to break down lactose this will cause a food intolerance and show up as a diarrhea. The undigested lactose will make water pass into the intestinal lumen and increase the water content in the stool - diarrhea is the result.

Well-some dogs might be better to handle lactose than others. Some dogs might keep the lactose ingesting enzymes. This could be the case in your dog.

I don't think that milk is dangerous to give unless you have a small breed dog having a genetic disposition for calciumoxalat bladder stones.

All the best
