Tracheal Collapse and Glucosamine / Chondroitin Supplements

by M & M

Doctor,
What are your thoughts about using glucosamine / chondroitin to improve the
health of the mal-formed cartilages that support the trachea in canines with
(or who are pre-disposed to get) this condition?

Have there been any studies carried out along these lines?

Are there any other supplements that you might suggest for investigation?

Thank You Very Much for your time and caring,

b>My Comment:

Hi

I have investigated if any studies have been done and I have not been able to find any. So, no studies have been done that I could find.

Tracheal collapse in Sweden is not that often seen. I really understand why glucosamin is seen to a possible important factor having this terrible condition.

Personally I have no experience of how well it is working. It it is mentioned quite a lot on the net and often suggested as worth a try. Especially as there is no side effects.

Vitamin C came to my mind as well. But, I haven’t seen any recommendation regarding this important connective tissue building block.

Dogs can produce vitamin C themselves, but if extra strain is put on the joints or other parts of the connective tissue is has been postulated that extra vitamin c supplementation would be beneficial.

Vitamin c would might be an idea as well.

Try this and …....I really hope some benefit can come from it.

All The Best
