how much vitamin k do i give my dog that has eaten rat poison, and how many times a day. i have tablets that r 100mcg how many of those at a time do i give her.

i dont know when she ate it but she seems to be feeling just fine. if she ate it it would have been 2days ago. but no signs yet. she ate d-con and one block

My Comment:

Hi Jessica

In the poison d-Con brodifacoum is used and it it a second generation warfarin.

Its stronger than warfarin and the effect last very long.

Normally I would regard it effective for up to 4 weeks.

If any danger it depends on the amount digested and how big/small your dog is. If only a smaller dose is ingested it can take several days before the symptoms show.

In your case I can't recommend your to give vitamin k without consulting a vet. The vet can take a blood sample and see if there is any signs of bleeding.

This could be done perhaps one to two times - all depending on the risks calculated from the estimated mg/lbs (or kg) which might have been eaten.

So - call your veterinarian.

Symptoms might not show up immediately and the bleeding time in the blood should be monitored. Therefore - sorry! I am not able to help you from "overhere" - please conntact a local vet ASAP.

All the best
